Modern thin effective microwave absorbers providing small radar reflection over a wide frequency band must possess both dielectric and magnetic losses. The value of magnetic losses depends on the absorber's permeability. The problem is in that only few materials demonstrate magnetic properties at the ultra high frequency range. Soft magnetic wire-shaped materials with an amorphous, nanocrystalline and granular character, which demonstrate an improvement of the characteristics of different electromagnetic and electronic devices, have been developed. A brief review is presented of the properties and applications of the new absorbing material.Published
