Quantitative analysis of the effectiveness of using non-coupled large-aperture radiating elements in planar singly and doubly periodic phased array antennas is carried out. It is found that the maximum element use efficiency in 1D arrays, corresponding to the cosine distribution is approximately 4% higher than the maximum efficiency corresponding to the uniform distribution. It is shown that the maximum element use efficiency in case of the arrays with the sector element patterns is 12-to-16% higher than the maximum efficiency corresponding to the non-coupled elements with cosine distribution. The element use effectiveness in the 2D arrays is shown to be lower than 43%.References
